Crooked Tree 04:46
Sunbeams shining through the trees Standing tall to shelter all beneath the comfort of the shade A song in the breath of the wind Like a bird I sing with the tune To a carefree time of lullabies and nights beneath the stars I wish this would never end What a gift it is to see the beauty of an old crooked tree Blowing like leaves of the past Unveiling scars of heavy winds and when the lightning tore my soul I prayed that I would not fall Glowing in the warmth of the fire Burning bright with memories of a past that fuels the flames I hope I remember the names What a gift it is to see the beauty of an old crooked tree That sun is laying low And the storms in the distance sound the call You can lean on me, I'll never let you down Together we’ll stand tall Let it be love that I sow Every seed of Spring's eternal warmth reminds us we must grow Now is the time to begin In the end my life is in your hands Cut me down for a better view if I was only in the way My song is still playing in the wind What a gift it is to see the beauty of an old crooked tree

Where are the angels, where are the angels today I fear we’ve lost our way I feel it under my feet Time to get up out of your seats today I think we better face the heat And join our brothers out on the street today So there’s one thing left to say We can start a brand new day When we're all long gone To let the children sing the song And they’ll hold hands All as one Where are the angels, where are the angels today This hate just won't give way A hundred million eyes to see Another brother under your knee again Again We think we’ve come along so far But now we're screaming I can’t breathe again So there’s one thing left to say We can start a brand new day When we’re all long gone To let the children sing their song And they’ll hold hands All as one Where are the angels, where are the angels today Just to shed some light our way If we could only open our hearts Bring a revolution to the world today If only we would do our part And give the kids some hope to spread today So there’s one thing left to say We can start a brand new day When we’re all long gone To let the children sing their song And they’ll hold hands All as one Where are the angels today

Colors in waves while you dream away A wish on a feather on a stormy day Push it away where your memories stray A bloom on a stem slowly decays What is a life if you no longer see What is a life if you don’t hold the keys What is a life without a mind to feed What is a life if you no longer bleed Bury the clouds and sow the seeds of whim A mind’s eye with a vision within Push it away to where your memories stray A Brush on the canvas but there’s nothing to paint What is a life if you no longer see What is a life if you don’t hold the keys What is a life without a mind to feed What is a life if you no longer bleed I’m a servant of love on a bed of nails Windows of time on a golden swing Float in the sky and let your mind swim Push it away where your memories stray Colors fade with nothing left to say What is a life if you no longer see What is a life if you don’t hold the keys What is a life without a mind to feed What is a life if you no longer bleed What is a life if you no longer see (I’m a servant of love on a bed of nails) What is a life if you don’t hold the keys (I’m a servant of love on a bed of nails) What is a life without a mind to feed (I’m a servant of love on a bed of nails) What is a life if you no longer bleed

Say Goodbye 03:59
I’m amazed with the ways you hold me I’m amazed with the ways you cut me It took me too long to find out you don’t love me I’m just calling out a name into the darkness of the night To take me in and tell me it’s alright Said it’s alright La da da da If I could just hold on till daylight If I could just hold back the rain And let the sun shine through the panes Maybe then I’d see, through eyes, the fragile lies you’ve told Under the mask of a broken soul A broken soul La da da da I don’t care if you say you’re sorry I don’t care if you say you’ll change Your precious words won’t buy back all the pain And I wish that all you said was true, but we know there’s no light I think it’s time we say goodbye Say goodbye La da da da I’m amazed with the ways you hold me I’m amazed with the ways you cut me It took me too long to find out you don’t love me

Raven Singing in the cold pale night Raven singing with the bullets in flight Darkness falling from a fiery sky Rain is pouring from a widow’s eye I’m standing on the edge Looking down On a war that can’t be won Soldiers comin with a fire in their eyes Soldiers comin with their guns held high Close your eyes, don’t you put up no fight Close your eyes, hold your babies tight I’m standing on the edge Looking down On a war that can’t be won Future’s falling from a poison sky Future’s calling with a look in her eyes Blood is flowing over government gold Seeds of vengeance will grow no more I’m standing on the edge Looking down On a war that can’t be won

Thrown Away 05:22
When you’re out on your own When you find no one’s home When your legs are so heavy And you just want to run You watch the cars fly by Just a flicker in the eye Then you blink at the sunrise With your head in the clouds And now it’s all Just thrown away As strong a man as I I still lean on your reply If this was only just goodbye It wouldn’t mean so much to me Dust, it falls like rain There's nobody left to bear the blame For all that we ache in our hearts While it all falls apart And now it’s all Just thrown away Empty halls where we danced All that I asked was just a chance If you’d have only given a glance You would’ve seen I was bleeding And now it’s all Just thrown away

What Am I 04:20
What am I supposed to think The TV is selling guns and wars Who to despise, gotta settle the score Who is beautiful, who is not Who should be happy with what they got The rich control the needs of the poor Give up your children to fight in petty ways Push pills and drugs to set you at death’s door Na na na na What am I supposed to feel Lift a man up just to knock him down Build up walls on the dark side of town Decidedly we plea, this ain’t meant to be You can fight, you can run all night Set fire to your dreams in the cold moonlight I’m telling you things ain’t what they seem Na na na na What am I supposed to do March in time, but none is mine Get an education to fill your mind But nothing is learned, when all that counts is what’s earned Just enough to keep the bees busy Distracted from crimes that make your mind dizzy Get a job, earn a dime, strip you of your gift of time Na na na na What am I supposed to be Treat ‘em equal don’t put ‘em down Well why are we painting penitentiaries brown The message says kindness will set you free One man shouts love Another man screams war A child in the corner cries out “isn’t there more?” Na na na na

I am so falling in your eyes I can sleep till the morning rain And in your teardrops I rise Through the cracks of the many years by my side I am so falling in your arms I can sleep till the morning’s dawn Against your breast I feel warm As our hearts pound along to the beat of time The bees are buzzing in the trees You got me down on my knees, my honey Baby just hold me in the breeze Cause when you do it puts my mind at ease, my honey So pull me close Just one more dose of your soul I am so falling in your heart I can sleep till the morning stars And when I wake by your side Again I’m falling in your eyes

about

This album is but a small fragment of what has been the most amazing journey in my mind, discovering who I am, my purpose in this crazy world, bringing me closer to God, and ultimately bringing me closer to the man in the mirror. The darkest tunnels have led me to the brightest light and I am forever grateful. These were originally intended as nothing more than a demo for Cosmic, but it also presents a different side of me that I am proud to share. They’re by no means perfect as they were all recorded, mixed, and mastered by me alone using the primitive skills I’ve learned over the last year, but they are decidedly me. As my dear friend Dan Donovan astutely pointed out, this is my “Nebraska”. I believe music can bring forth thought and discussion, I believe music heals, and I believe music can change the world. I hope in some small way I can be a part of that.
